Lily Pads and Tadpoles

Dynamic Sketching was so fun and I'm so glad to have been able to successfully make a book for this class. I've worked as hard as I can and I'm so proud to end up with such a personal project.

My book Lily Pads and Tadpoles is made up of my own interests in slice of life stories involving bizarre family situations. Currently I'm planning on finalizing and adding additional fixes to the book before thinking about selling copies and sharing my ideas with everyone interested. But for now, I'm going to share some more pages I've done from my book and I'm looking forward to continue drawing more for this story!

A bonus picture of the display I sweated over for my books
which turned out looking better than I thought, Hoo-rah!

And bonus pictures my friend took of me collapsing from relief.

He's Thirsty

My final for Digital Life with Cliff Nielsen!
I decided to do a piece off on one the deadly sins, Lust, for the final.
Just a sailor being seduced by a siren but is about to find out something's quite not right.

Some comps for this project.
I really enjoyed working on this idea.

Lily Pads and Tadpoles Project

Just a sneak peek of a personal project I've been up to for my
Dynamic Sketching class with Peter Han.
Still a work in progress but I really enjoy sketching for this class!

Digital Life

Live model digital paintings I've done on week 7 in digital life class.
Each one is about 30-45 minutes

My midterm assignment for this class was to pick one theme from his list and do a poster or visual development piece. I chose to do The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
The scene I decided on was Edmund confronting the White Witch in her castle.

Image and Idea

Just some old design homework I've done for Image and Idea class in my 4th term

I had to design a traveling poster for a location I remember from a past childhood memory, so I chose a place in Taiwan I remember fondly as a child.

My other assignment was to redesign a book cover, so I decided on Amy Tan's "The Kitchen God's Wife". I ended up making two covers because my teacher liked both designs.

The first cover symbolizing a part of the book where she compares her luck to buying an expensive fish for her husband only to have him choke on the bone.

The second cover more literally about the character being hidden behind all her good work.

In this class I really had to embrace the idea of simplicity and symbolic images.

Sketching for Entertainment Portfolio

Here are some homework assignments I've done for my Sketching for Entertainment Class with Will Weston this spring term.

Prompt: "The Girl walks into her father's studio and sees the most beautiful kite"

I decided to set it around WWI in France, the studio belonging to an ex-pilot father

Prompt: "Gnome Restaurant"

I decided on a western bar run by gnomes where they are visited by two thieving sisters that want to steal more than just lunch.

Prompt: "Kids shipwrecked on an island"

I did an island being inhabited by shipwrecked Japanese monk children, but the island turns out to be more than it seems.

Inventive Costume Drawings

These are my homework assignments done for Will Weston's Inventive Costume class.

The Prompt was "Two Teenagers at a costume party, both wearing two different time period clothing"

I decided to pick the early 19th century and the 20th century costumes.

The final product, a romantic meeting between two starving teenagers

Another Prompt: "Two bears dressed in 19th-20th century clothing"

I did a couple loose sketches to get the general body language of bears as well as figure out
how to design the shapes of the two bears.

I decided to base them off a Charles Gibson drawing of a couple on a boat surrounded by swans.

Final product, I don't know how dates are supposed to work
